Eastbourne International has been held in eastbourne since 1974 and is classified as a Womens Tennis Association (WTA) Premier tournament on the WTA Tour and an ATP World Tour 250 series on the ATP World Tour. Eastbourne tennis week increasingly attracts a greater demand for tickets, so book early. It is always a delight to see Eastbourne's own Johanna Conta, and we were pleased to welcome Novak Djokovich in 2018 for the second time, following his debut in 2017, the year that mens tennis returned to Eastbourne.
Eastbourne International is regarded by many as a warm up to Wimbledon's Grand Slam tournament which takes place the week after Eastbourne, and is of course is also played on outdoor grass courts.
As the demand for tickets shows, Eastbourne tennis is an outstanding annual event in our calender.
Airborne: Eastbournes Airshow is the highlight of the year for many people, this event started in 1993. The sheer volume of visitors Airbourne attracts is evidenced by the fact that it has become a 4 day event, held in August each year. There is something for everyone at Airborne with the Red Arrows always a delight to watch and a popular favourite but perhaps closely followed by the Typhoon Eurofighter with it's shock and awe capabilities, we can but marvel as this airframe performs ballet in the sky. Nostalgia plays a part for many throughout the daily programmes which according to tradition include displays from the Battle of Britain Memorial flights of the Lancaster, B52 Flying Fortress, Spitfire, and Hurrican. The final flight of the Vulcan bomber was a recent highlight of Airborne.
Family favourites also include the Breightling Wing Walkers, reminiscent of magnificant men in their flying machines, and even as it goes dark we are treated to a dazzling display. Personally, I will never forget seeing a Boeing 747 jumbo jet coming in 250 feet above sea level over Eastbourne Pier.
